Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics is a famous observatory, which played significant role in major researches of 20^th century and in confirming Einstein's theory of General Relativity.

 Manchester Metropolitan University was formed from the old polytechnic college and to some extend retains this specialization. Royal Northern College of Music is one of the most important establishments of this kind in UK. Manchester Business School is now a part of Manchester University.
